It_s a pretty exciting development.No doubt it_s been an interesting week for the future of tube-based travel, Kat. Two hyperloop companies are battling it out for the frontrunner position in this incredible new industry. So earlier this week we had a big announcement from that joint NASA and Boeing project, and on Wednesday journalists were treated to a groundbreaking demonstration.That_s right, this one_s from the OTHER Hyperloop company: Hyperloop One. And what they showed us got EVERYONE_S attention In the Nevada Desert just north of Las Vegas, Hyperloop One showed off its concept for what the future of speed rail systems could look like. Using magnetic levitation technology, a bare-metal sled was sent rocketing down a track. It went from zero to 116 miles per hour in 1.1 seconds. The finished product would have a top speed of 750 miles per hour, and would be able to transport passengers from Washington DC to New York, or LA to San Francisco, in 30 minutes. Pretty amazing Wednesday_s test lasted just a few seconds, but Hyperloop One hopes to put together a longer demo using a full tube later this year. If you_re sick and tired of all those prescription drug ads on TV, you_re not alone A Harvard poll found that 57 percent of US citizens would support a ban on drug ads. The Harvard survey comes just a few months after a call from the American Medical Association to stop direct-to-consumer ads of prescription drugs and medical devices. The US and New Zealand are the only countries that allow them. Spending on drug ads has jumped by 30 percent since 2013 to 4.5 billion dollars a year. And you may have noticed Wednesday that your selfies looked a little different. That_s because photo-sharing site Instagram has unveiled a total redesign to its interface. The uber-popular program changed its logo and introduced a cleaner, stripped-down layout. It_s less colorful, but that_s on purpose. Instagram says they want the color to come from people_s photos.
