Well I think it’s safe to say that filing a tax return is a headache for most people, but there IS some good news, IF you live in the U.S.Angel Banks in the Naked Newsroom with the story.If you’ve been putting off filing your taxes, the IRS is trying to entice you. They just released data claiming that the average tax refund is up about THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY dollars relative to last year! As of March 27th, with over half of the expected individual returns received, the average refund was three thousand, five hundred, and twenty-one dollars. The upper middle class is now America’s largest economic group. American Enterprise Institute research suggests around thirty-one percent of Americans are in that class, up from around twenty-two percent in 2001 and just ten percent in 1979. Meanwhile, over that same timeframe, the lower middle class and the poor have shrunk significantly! As for the reason, it’s mostly due to dual-earner families and professional gains for women! And here’s some more good news, albeit for a very specific group of people – the New York State Department of Health says people can now eat “some fish” caught in the Lower Hudson River! Specifically because the fish are showing lower levels of the toxic chemicals known as PCBs. The new guidelines suggest that the general population can now eat up to four meals a month with fish caught from the river. But I guess the REAL question is, would you WANT to?
